Filter Mudball Obliteration During Air Scour.AVI

Filter Mudball Obliteration During Air Scour.AVI Video Clips. Duration : 0.50 Mins.

The solids that accumulate in the top of a granular activated carbon (GAC) filter bed, can form mud balls. These amorphous solid masses, composed of coagulant, previously suspended solids, and filter media, can lead to filter problems. Here, the mud ball is visible during low backwash. But, when air is added to the backwash, the collapse pulse action in the filter bed breaks the mud ball apart.
