How to Make a Homemade Water Filter for Tap Water

How to Make a Homemade Water Filter for Tap Water Video Clips. Duration : 1.43 Mins.

www.smarttipsforyou.com --How to Make a Homemade Water Filter for Tap Water Filtering your drinking water may not be as expensive of an undertaking as you may think. You can create a homemade water filter for your tap water by using common household items that you use everyday. The homemade filter can clean water as well as most expensive store bought filters. Instructions Clean out the plastic bottle with dish detergent and rinse it with fresh water. If the bottle was used previously for water storage, a rinse with fresh water should suffice. Cut a hole in the top of the bottle large enough to fit your hand in using the utility knife. Spread about 8 inches of cotton wool onto the bottom of the bottle and press it down with your hand to compress it. Spread 3 inches of fine-grain sand on top of the cotton wool in an even layer. Top the fine-grain sand with 3 inches of course-grain sand. Fill the bottle with around 6 to 8 inches of the activated charcoal granules.
